Alfred Gratien Brut Cuvée Millésimé
A champagne for major events
This wine is pale gold in colour. Its effervescence is measured and builds to a fine mousse.
At first, the nose is led by toasted almonds and russet apples. The wine then evolves aromatically to offer floral notes and hints of ‘food’. Iris, orange blossom and ladyfinger biscuits assert themselves. Gradually, flint and citrus zest come to the fore, with toasted almond again providing the backdrop.
The exuberant initial taste and effervescence blend immediately into the body of the wine. This body is svelte, vibrant and accompanied by a fine acidity, which lends the tasting experience rhythm. The dosage dissipates, and the overall impression is a highly delicate sense of lightness. This champagne’s texture is reminiscent of lace.
The finish is taut and fairly long, with acidic and mineral notes. It finishes delicately with a precisely timed aftertaste.
Summary
This vintage embodies all of the intrinsic qualities of its year: direct, fresh and balanced. Currently on the verge of maturity, it will soon express its full potential.
